CHARITIES I LOVE AND SUPPORT

Though there are many worthy charities out there doing amazing work, these are some of my favorites - ones I support with my own hard-earned money.

THE WILD ANIMAL SANCTUARY - KEENESBURG, CO

PEIVDF first visited the Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS) in Keenesburg, CO on October 30, 2010. TWAS had recently completed construction of a beautiful veterinary clinic and operating room – well-equipped, bright, and perfect for PEIVDF teaching missions. This was the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship between the two charities. TWAS provides their animals with the highest quality holistic care, proving for the psychological and physical needs of those in their care. TWAS recently acquired 9,000+ acres in the SE corner of Colorado, enabling them to rescue so many more animals, while maintaining large-acreage habitats.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN LAB RESCUE - BROOMFIELD, CO

An all-volunteer rescue for labs and lab mixes, this organization works tirelessly to socialize and re-home animals from some pretty horrible situations (think abuse, neglect…) They also support spay and neuter efforts to reduce animal over-population. A sad fact from their website - in Colorado alone, an average of 40,000 dogs/cats are euthanized each year!

EXOTIC FELINE RESCUE CENTER - CENTER POINT, IN

The Exotic Feline Rescue Center, located in Center Point, IN is home to about 200 exotic felines and is one of the largest rescue centers in the United States for abused, unwanted and neglected exotic felines.  Since its founding in 1991, the EFRC has served as a nationally recognized leader in big cat rescue, conservation and care.

PEIVDF conducted their first mission in the spring of 2011, and since 2016, PEIVDF visits EFRC twice a year, to provide expert dental care to new rescues as well as existing residents.

RESTORING CONNECTIONS

Restoring Connections is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Their mission is to unite diverse people for spiritual transformation and social justice. Their primary strategy for effecting change puts the emphasis on mutually transformative relationships that engage people on the margins together with people of privilege in a shared project.

I served on the Board of Directors for this wonderful charity.
